New York City native Nina Lopez–Ortiz lives life independently having been home schooled. Unorthodox is one word she says proudly describes her. With a love of books it wasn't surprising when at age fifteen she walked away from her high school education to pursue a career in writing. Four years later with as many novels penned and a steadily growing freelancing career, she's gone back to school. Currently her writing credits include this site and TheYip.com. If asked Nina will say that what makes her a feminist is the ability to not follow the crowd. She says, “When all the doors are closed, look for an open window. When you find a closed window, throw a rock through to create an open window of your own.”
